Heading A5E [Also in Divisions C2 and C5] A pesticidal composition contains as active ingredient a 2-trifluoromethyl benzimidazole of the formula:- wherein R 1 is a halogen atom or a halogenalkyl radical, R 2 is a halogen atom or a C 1 , to C 4 alkyl or C 2 to C 4 alkenyl radical optionally bound to the benzene nucleus by way of an oxygen or sulphur atom or a sulphinyl or sulphonyl radical, R 3 is a halogen atom, X is an oxygen or sulphur atom or a sulphinyl or sulphonyl group, m is from 0 to 3, n is from 0 to 2 and p is from I to 3, the halogeno radicals being those having atomic weights below 100, or a salt thereof. The composition may also contain a solid or liquid carrier or distributing agent and may be in the form of a dust, sprinkling agent, granulates, aqueous dispersion, wettable powder, paste, emulsion concentrate, solution or aerosol. The composition may also contain other active substances, e.g. halogenated diphenyl ureas, halogenated phenoxydiphenyl ureas, 2- chloro-methyl-sulphonylamino polychlorodiphenyl ethers. halogenated N - alkylsulphonyl anthranilic acid anilides, phosphoric, phosphonic, thiophosphoric or dithiophosphoric acid esters and amides, carbamic acid esters, halogenated hydrocarbons, analogues of D.D.T., and pyrethrins, and synergists or auxilliaries, e.g. succinic acid dibutyl ester, piperonyl butoxide, olive oil or peanut oil. The compositions may be used for protecting materials, particularly keratin materials, e.g. wool, other animal hair, fells and furs, against pesticidal attack. The textile materials may be impregnated using textile finishing processes, e.g. hot or cold, aqueous dye, bleaching chroming, pad dyeing or after treatment baths.</p> |
