The laser-cutting apparatus contains the following parts: a laser-beam source (10); a rigid laser-beam feed tube (18) which is connected to the laser-beam source (10); a cutting nozzle which is arranged in a freely movable manner on the end of the feed tube (18); a sensor device for determining the actual position of the cutting nozzle relative to an object to be cut and for producing an output signal representing the position; a carrying device (12) which reacts to the output signal in order to move the cutting nozzle into the desired position; and a contour-scanning device which keeps the cutting nozzle at the desired cutting distance from the object during the cutting. The apparatus permits laser-beam work even at cutting or welding points to which access is difficult. <IMAGE>
