1,028,473. Two-part couplings. F. R. BONHOMME. Nov. 22, 1962 [Nov. 24, 1961], No. 44257/62. Heading H2E. A miniature plug or socket contact element is made from a resilient conducting tube by circumferentially deforming the tube at at least one point and cutting away portions of the tube so that in each transverse plane there is less than 180 degrees of solid material remaining, and there is a variation in circumferential position of the solid material from one transverse plane to another. The deformation of the tube ensures a tight contact with a mating element. The element is plated with silver. gold or rhodium. The tube may be of circular, oval, triangular or rectangular cross-section. In one embodiment, the tube 10 is cut by two frusto-conical milling cutters 4, 5 to leave the sections shown. In a modification, Fig. 9 (not shown), four cuts are made instead of two. In further modifications, Figs. 15 and 17 (not shown), the portions may be cut away by cylindrical, spherical or circular cutters. |
