PURPOSE:To display a smoothly shaded graphic form even when the number of quantized gradations is small by correcting stored or displayed gradation values on the basis of fractions of gradation values which are discarded without being stored or displayed. CONSTITUTION:The contents of a gradation gradient register 201 and the contents of a gradation register 203 are supplied to an adder 202 through signal lines 211 and 213 respectively and the addition result responds to step pulses supplied to a signal line 113 through a signal line 212 and are set in the register 203 again. The contents of a register 205 of the register 203 are still 00, so the contents of an address 0 are sent out of a correcting value storage memory 207 to a signal line 216 and data 0 of the 1st bit is selected by a multiplexer 209 according to the contents 01 of a counter 208 and sent out as a correcting signal to a signal line 217. An adder 210 adds the contents of a register 204 to 0 on the signal line 217 and a corrected gradation value is sent out to a signal line 114.
