PURPOSE:To confirm a state in which a document is printed actually without requiring trial printing, etc., by displaying image data stored in a print image storage part on a display device. CONSTITUTION:A control part 2 displays part of a document stored in a document storage part 3 on the display screen of the display device according to printing condition inputted on, for example, on the 1st line on a printing condition setting image plane. When a request to display the layout of the document is made on a keyboard 1, the control part 2 displays a layout reduced by representing respective characters of the document stored in a print image storage part 6 by dots at the right half part of the image plane and the reduced contents of the storage part 6 at the left half part. Then, the keyboard 1 is operated to scroll the image plane to confirm the state of the whole document, i.e. contents, layout, etc., of the document.
