PURPOSE:To stop a die clamping operation before die clamping is ended, by sliding a die plate opposed to a die plate having an insert metallic fixture holding part, by giving the necessary minimum pre-pressure in the clamping direction and a necessary stroke to the back. CONSTITUTION:A necessary stroke 10 is given to a die plate 1 by a hanger 8, the hanger 8 and a driving unit 9 are attached to a fitting plate 7 so that the necessary smallest force can be given the die clamping by the driving unit 9, and when the die clamping has been completed, a stroke 10 becomes zero. Also, as for the other die plate 2, an insert metallic fixture 5 is held by an insert metallic fixture holding part 6, and a sensor 3 is integrated into a parting line 4. In case of a die clamping operation, if a foreign matter is mixed into the parting line 4 due to an omission, etc., of the insert metallic fixture 5 and the die plates 1, 2 do not contact closely to each other, a die clamping stop signal is outputted by the sensor 3, and a forming machine stops completely its operation within the stroke 10. In this way, a metallic die can be prevented from being damaged.
