PURPOSE:To be able to arrange gap adjusting devices near a sector plate under unsatisfactory thermal condition, simplify a drive mechanism, and improve their reliability by installing both or one of a gap adjusting device for a radial seal composed of a thermal expansion type rod having a heating mechanism heated by heat transfer from high temp. gas or electricity individually or in combination and a gap adjusting device for an axial seal composed of the same thermal expansion type rod. CONSTITUTION:A thermal expansion rod 1 hangs a sector plate 2 (radial seal) through a lever mechanism 5. The detected value from a sensor 4 detecting a relative gap of a rotor 7 and a set value 10 for the gap are compared and computed by a controller 9 which out puts control signals to a variable output power source 8 and a control valve 11 in order to keep a constant gap. When the rod 1 is heated, or controlled in the expansion direction, electric heating and heating caused by the heat exchange with high temp. gas are carried out complementally. The same constitution applies to a gap control system for an axial seal preventing a bypass flow in the axial direction.
