PURPOSE:To cause return oil to rapidly flow thereby to eliminate the need of a return pipe by causing a residual gas in an evaporation chamber to directly return to an oil receiving pan via a needle pipe an electromagnetic valve and a return valve when a nozzle hole is closed by a needle. CONSTITUTION:A liquid fuel which has been sucked up by means of a fuel pump 2 is sent into an evaporation chamber and evaporated and mixed with air from an air-intake hole 33 at a burner throat 23 to form a flame on a burner hole plate 34. Upon fire extinguishment, the fuel pump 2 is stopped, and an electromagnetic valve 31 is turned ON and oil feeding is stopped. At the same time, the nozzle hole 28 is closed by a needle 30, and the return valve 32 is opened. Therefore, simultaneously with the fire extinguishment, the residual gas within the evaporation chamber 22 passes through a needle pipe 29 and returns to condense to the oil receiving pan 1. Since the residual gas falls from the upper part to the lower part, return of oil is rapidly carried out. Thus, a return pipe which connects the return valve to the oil receiving pan is not required. Therefore, the constitution of the burner becomes compact and cost therefor is reduced.
