PURPOSE:To prevent to feed excessive fuel at an acceleration in a cold air condition, and avoid a smolder of the ignition plug without reducing the super charging property in a cold air condition, by closing a bypass slowly to rise the supercharging pressure gradually at the starting of supercharging in a cold air engine condition. CONSTITUTION:A supercharger 2 driven by an engine 1 and a bypass 3 of the supercharger 2 are furnished at a suction passage 4, and a supercharging to the engine 1 is started when the load of the engine 1 exceeds a specific value. In such a composition, an engine condition deciding device 5 decides whether the engine 1 is in a cold air condition or an engine heated condition. And a bypass control device 6 is furnished to close the bypass 3 slowly at the starting of the supercharging when the engine 1 is in a cold air condition, and close the bypass 3 rapidly at the starting of the supercharging when in an engine heated condition. Therefore, an excessive fuel feeding in a cold air condition and the attachment of the fuel over the suction port wall surface are prevented, to avoid a smolder of the ignition plug.
