PURPOSE:To improve the quality of a coated electrode by incorporating >=1 kinds among carbon fibers, metallic fibers, and alloy fibers having specified lengths into a coating material at a specific weight in total per the weight of the total coating material. CONSTITUTION:>=1 kinds of the short carbon fibers, metallic fibers, and alloy fibers having 1-5mm are incorporated into the coating material at 0.1-5.0wt% in total per the weight of the total coating material. The short carbon fibers may be of graphite and the metallic fibers and alloy fibers are pure iron fibers, stainless steel fibers, etc. The above-mentioned coating material added with a binder (water glass) is coated on a steel core wire and is dried and calcined to manufacture the coated electrode. The coating crack of the coated electrode is prevented and the dislodging rate of the coating is made low by the above- mentioned method.
