PURPOSE:To express a numeral and a character other than numeral on the basis of DTMF signal sequency so as to send them by displaying characters or the like meaned by respective pushbutton switches on a display unit, and at the depression of the pushbutton, dial, instructing a tone dial tone multifrequency signal generating circuit. CONSTITUTION:When a pushbutton dial switch 8 is depressed, a control part 3 decides the meaning of the pushbutton. When the depressed switch 8 judges the change of a character menu, the control part 3 changes a signal to be displayed on a character display unit 2 and instructs so as to change the displayed characters to a new character menu. If the depressed switch 8 means a numeral or a character, the control part 3 sends a control signal to a dial tone multifrequency(DTMF) signal generating circuit 4 so that a DTMF signal sequence corresponding to the numeral or character is transmitted. Thereby, the circuit 4 generates DTMF signal sequence in accordance with the control signal sent from the control part 3 and superpose the sequence to a telephone line 7.
