PURPOSE:To improve drivability by setting a theoretical air-fuel ratio to a target air-fuel ratio when an engine operation condition is in a transitional state with an increased load and a leaner air-fuel ratio to the target air-fuel ratio when the engine is in a light load condition. CONSTITUTION:The subject device has an operation condition detecting means 'M2' for detecting the operation condition of an internal-combustion engine 'M1' including a load and an air-fuel ratio, and feedback controls a fuel quan tity to be fed to the engine 'M1' with a control means 'M3' so that an air-fuel ratio detected by said means 'M2' will be a target air-fuel ratio. In the afore said constitution, when an engine operation condition detected by said means 'M2' is in a transitional state due to an increased load, for example, a high load condition including starting and accelerating, the target air-fuel ratio there of is set to a theoretical air-fuel ratio and, on the other hand, a change means 'M4' is provided for changing the target air-fuel ratio to a leaner side, when the engine 'M1' is in a light load condition. In this way, the target air-fuel ratio is changed over depending upon an engine load, thereby enabling the improvement of drivability.
