PURPOSE:To decrease the number of the constituting parts of a connector and to simplify assembly by connecting the end faces of optical fibers in tight contact with each other between a pair of ferrules by the elastic force generated when reinforcing coating layers are displaced. CONSTITUTION:The ferrule 22 slides axially in a sleeve 34 and contacts the other ferrule 22' when a coupling nut 26 is successively screwed and tightened to an adapter 24. A stopper sleeve 28 screwed with a holder 30 moves axially when the nut 26 is further tightened but the ferrule 22 is in contact with the other ferrule 22' and therefore, said ferrule does not follow up the above- mentioned movement and an optical fiber cord 20 deflects by as much as the displacement (l) of the sleeve 28. The reinforcing coating layer 20c on the outside periphery of the cord 20 has elasticity and therefore, if the cord 20 deflects, the restoring force against the deflection arises and the dn faces of the ferrules 22, 22' are bought into tight contact with each other.
