A kit for replacing a tubular, open ended, indwelling stent (10) comprises a guide wire (21) for insertion into the lumen of the stent, the guide wire being smaller in cross- section than the lumen of the indwelling stent and the opening sin its ends so that the wire can be passed through the lumen and out of the end openings. The guide wire can be left in place to serve as a guide for a second replacement stent when the first stent is withdrawn over the guide wire. The replacement stent comprises an elongated, relatively flexible tubular member having open proximal and distal ends with a hook at least at the proximal end, the openings at the proximal and distal ends being larger in cross- section than the guide wire so that the replacement stent can be run over the guide wire into the position of the indwelling stent. <IMAGE> |
