PURPOSE:To control the shape of work rolls with good accuracy by supporting the work rolls to a pyramid shape with two pieces of intermediate rolls backed up by back up rolls and shifting and bending the intermediate rolls. CONSTITUTION:The upper intermediate rolls 2, 3 are provided on the lower side of the large-diameter upper back up roll 1 and the small-diameter work rolls 4 are attracted and supported in the pyramid shape by means of springs 5 to the lower side thereof. The upper divided back up rolls 7, 8 are provided on the upper and down stream sides of the rolls 2, 3. Double push horizontal benders 9, 10 are provided to the rolls 7, 8. The lower side is constituted in the same manner. Vertical bending cylinders are provided to the rolls 2, 3 to control the vertical bending and shifters are provided thereto to shift the rolls 2, 3 in opposite directions. The fluctuation in the horizontal deflection of the small-diameter work rolls 4, 4' is prevented by the above-mentioned mechanism and therefore, the diameter of the rolls 4, 4' is made extremely small. |
