PURPOSE:To improve heat transfer rate at the shell side of a multi-tube heat exchanger by breaking or disturbing boundary layers generated at the flow near tubes with projections placed on the surfaces of a tube support device. CONSTITUTION:Fluid at the tube side flows in from the inlet nozzle 2 of a water chamber and enters the water chamber 4. Thereafter, the fluid which flows in tubes 10, exchanges heat with the fluid at the shell side, and flows into a water chamber 4, is discharged from the outlet nozzle 18. The fluid at the shell side flows in from the inlet nozzle 16 at the shell and enters an outer chamber 24. Thereafter, the fluid is smoothened in stream by the shroud in a chamber and then it flows in parallel along the tubes 10 in the shell 20. At that time, the fluid at the shell side exchanges heat with the fluid at the tube side through the walls of the tubes 10. Eggcrate turbulence promoting mechanism are placed at the eggcrate non-contact parts with tubes in eggcrate parts to improve heat transfer rate at the shell side. |
