PURPOSE:To improve the blackening and corrosion resistances of a metal plated steel sheet by treating the steel sheet with an aqueous soln. prepd. by mixing an aqueous soln. contg. chromic anhydride and silica sol with Ti or Mg ions and Ni or Co ions. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous soln. contg. 2-50g/l chromic anhydride and 4-100g/l silica sol is mixed with 0.1-1.2g/l Ti ions or 0.02-0.12g/l Mg ions and 0.1-0.8g/l Ni or Co ions. A metal plated steel sheet is immersed in the resulting bath.
