PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of adhesion to a roll as well as variability in the thicknes1s of the titled foam by a method wherein the sheet of the foam, consisting of thermoplastic resin, is worked by compression in a condition that the sheet is stretched to the size of 1.05-1.5 times. CONSTITUTION:In case the compression work of the sheet of termoplastic resin foam, heated to a temperature near the softening point thereof, is effected by employing a cooling roll, the compression work is effected in a condition that the sheet is stretched by about 1.05-1.5 times the foam before the compression work. The thermoplastic resin foam is preferable to be the copolymer of polyethylene and ethylene-vinyl acetate which is provided with the magnification of foaming of about 3-40 times and the thickness of about 0.5-3.0mm. On the other hand, the cooling roll having recessed and protruded structure having preferably 50-500 mesh, is employed for this purpose. When the compression work is effected under being stretched, bubbles becomes flat and the foam may be modified to the soft foam. |
