PURPOSE:To obtain the titled film excellent in heat resistance, high soldering bath resistance, etc., by producing a polyester containing a specified random copolyester having a thermotropic liquid crystal property as part of the units constituting the main chain and molding this polyester into a film. CONSTITUTION:A polyester comprising 5-95mol%, based on the units constituting the main chain, random copolyester of a thermotropic liquid crystal property, represented by formula III (wherein Ar<1> is a trivalent aromatic group) and 95-5mol% units of formula IV (wherein Ar<2> is a bivalent aromatic group) and having an intrinsic viscosity >=0.5 is produced by, e.g., a process comprising reacting a phosphorus-containing aromatic diol of formula I, II or the like with terephthalic acid, isophthalic acid, 4-hydroxybenzoic acid, etc. This polyester is molded into the purpose film which does not change its appearance even when it is immersed in a soldering bath at 220 deg.C for 10sec.
