PURPOSE:To produce a Cu-infiltered 2-layered valve seat by molding 3-layered green compacts consisting of an Fe green compact for forming a valve contact layer, Fe green compact for forming a valve seat body and Cu green compact for infiltration and integrally sintering the molding. CONSTITUTION:The green compact layer consisting of the Fe material for forming the valve contact layer, the green compact layer consisting of the Fe material for molding the valve seat body and the green compact layer consisting of the Cu or Cu alloy for infiltration are superposed and are molded to a 3-layered body. The 3-layered green compacts are sintered in an atmosphere of an ammonia decomposing gas, etc. The Cu or Cu alloy of the Cu (alloy) green compact layer infilters into the green compact layer consisting of the Fe material for forming the valve contact layer and the green compact layer consisting of the Fe material for forming the valve seat body during the sintering. The Cu-infiltered 2-layered valve seat for an internal combustion engine, etc. is quickly produced by the above-mentioned method.
