There are disclosed bicyclo[3.3.0]octene derivatives having the following formula: <IMAGE> wherein R1 is a straight, branched or cyclic alkyl group or alkenyl group each having 5 to 10 carbon atoms; and R2 and R3 are each separately a hydrogen atom or a protective group of a hydroxy group, and process for producing the same. These compounds and the process for producing them are available for producing a 9(0)-methano- DELTA 6(9 alpha )-PGI1.
