PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound industrially advantageously, by reacting a cyano compound corresponding to the aimed compound with a specific silyl compound in the presence of a tertiary amine to give a reaction product and hydrolyzing the reaction product under a weakly acidic - weakly alkali condition. CONSTITUTION:A compound shown by formula I (R<1> is H, lower alkyl or phenylbenzyl; R<2> is each group in R<1> except H and a case wherein R<1> is bonded to R<2> at end to form a polymethylene chain is included; R<3> is H, lower alkyl or CF3) is reacted with a compound shown by formula II (R<4>-R<6> are methyl, ethyl or t-butyl) in the presence of a tertiary amine such as triethylamine, etc., and a reaction produce is hydrolyzed under a weakly acidic condition of pH 3-11- a weakly alkali condition to give the aimed compound shown by formula III useful as an intermediate for a carcinostatic agent, a germicide, an antihypertensive, etc., by an easier method with respect to operation than a well-known method by a short process and efficiently without using a reaction reagent which is difficult to handle.
