PURPOSE:To make it possible to suppress tension variation to the min., by providing a brake mechanism for braking the rotary shaft of a feed-out side ink ribbon pan cake wherein an unused ink ribbon is wound in a roll shape by friction force and spring force. CONSTITUTION:When an ink ribbon is fed out to an A-direction from an ink ribbon pan cake 7, the movement of the pin 8a of a pan cake core 8 is received by the receiving fin 1c of an ink ribbon feed-out shaft 1 and the feed-out shaft 1 rotates to a B-direction. This rotary motion energy is gradually accumulated by a torsion spring 5 and, when the torque thereof exceeds the friction torque due to a friction disc 1a, a friction material 4 and a disc 3, relative slide is generated and brake force acts on the feed direction of the ink ribbon. A spring 5 becomes loose or tight with respect to the abrupt change in the feed speed of the ink ribbon to allow the rotational speed of the pan cake 7 to follow the feed speed and the tension variation of the ink ribbon is suppressed to the min. By this method, slide contamination or the wrinkles of the ink ribbon can be prevented.
