NEW MATERIAL:Polypeptide homolog marinostatins having the following characteristics; Marinostatin B-1 [molecular weight; about 1,500 (gel filtration method); constitutional amino acid residue; 12]. Marinostatin B-2 [molecular weight; about 1,700; constitutional amino acid residue; 14]. Marinostatin C-1 [molecular weight; about 1,500; constitutional amino acid residue; 12]. Marinostatin C-2 [molecular weight; about 1,700; constitutional amino acid residue; 14]. USE:The compound has protease inhibitory action and especially strongly inhibits a serine protease such as subtilin and bovine alpha-chymotrypsin. PREPARATION:For example, a marinostatin-producing microorganism belonging to the genus Alteromonas [preferably Alteromonas sp. B-10-31 strain (FERM P-8582)] is subjected to liquid cultivation in a nutrient culture medium containing seawater as a base preferably at 20-25 deg.C and 6-7pH for 9-33hr. |
