PURPOSE:To generate a processing program of high versatility by providing a data line controller which is inserted on the route between a data processor and an exchange and that between a remote terminal and the exchange and executes the control related to a data link layer and a network equipment. CONSTITUTION:The data transmission line between the data line controller and a file input/output controller is divided into plural frames 23-26, and one of these frames is used as a control information frame. A control circuit 17 of a file input/output switch 18 on a basis of transmitted file connection information to determine whether a logical input/output file 14 of a data processor 10 should be assigned to data input/output devices 19-22 or a network. The data line controller performs the transmission error control in accordance with data transmission control procedures; and if error is detected, the occurrence of error is transmitted to the control circuit 17 by a control information frame 26, and a data transmission error message is outputted from the control circuit 17 to an OS 15. Thus, an efficient processing program of high versatility is generated.
