PURPOSE:To effectively use a main storage by updating contents of a page state storage means and an idle area quantity storage means on a basis of information outputted by a main storage allocating means. CONSTITUTION:If it is determined by a discriminating means 3 that a main storage allocated area of an input/output queue table should be expanded or reduced, a main storage allocating means 4 is instructed to allocate the main storage or release allocation by an operating system. An updating means 5 updates contents of a page state storage means 61 and an idle area quantity storage means 62 on a basis of information outputted by the main storage allocating means 4. In case of release of allocation of a main storage, a flag indicates that the main storage is not yet allocated, and the page state indicating that a count part is zero and a value -k which is the increment of the quantity of the idle area are outputted. Thus, the main storage is effectively used.
