PURPOSE:To eliminate the malodor in a septic tank without necessitating a means for deodorization by providing a cover having a hole to communicate the inside with the outside and on which soil is piled up to the septic tank. CONSTITUTION:In the water purifier such as a device for purifying sewage, the cover 16 to close the upper opening of a tank body 1 is provided on the box tank body 1 which is opened to the upper part, and a hole is bored through the cover 16. The air supplied into the tank body 1 by air-lift pumps 10 and 12 and a diffuser pipe 15 is allowed to flow to the atmosphere through the hole furnished to the cover 16 and the soil on the cover 16. The malodor in the tank body 1 is absorbed by the soil on the cover 16, and does not reach the atmosphere. The malodor in the septic tank can be thus eliminated without necessitating a special mechanism.
