PURPOSE:To freely set the image resolution by storing the digitized video signals to read out them for recording at a variably set reading speed and delivering the reproduction signals at a speed corresponding to the set reading speed and in a fixed repeating time for D/A conversion. CONSTITUTION:The R, G, and B signals extracted from a TV camera are recorded to a frame memory 5 after A/D conversion 4. Then these signals are read out of the memory 5 at a speed set variably by a reading speed control circuit 6 and supplied to a discriminating signal adding circuit 8 through a digital LPF 7. Then the video signal containing the frame discriminating signal superposed on the speed discriminating signal corresponding to a set reading speed is recorded to a recording/reproducing device 9. The signals reproduced from the device 9 are supplied to a digital LPF 10. The reading speed corre sponding to the digital signal length is set to the LPF 10 according to the dis criminating signal reproduced by a discriminating signal reproducing circuit 11. Then the signals read out of the LPF 10 are supplied to a display device 17 after D/A conversion 14. Thus, it is possible to file the recorded pictures with desired image resolution.
