PURPOSE:To make the sensitivity to combustible gas such as isobutane gas excellent at 200-250 deg.C, by containing 0.01-5wt% of SO4<2-> as an auxiliary component in SnO2 being a main component. CONSTITUTION:0.01-5wt% of SO4<2-> is contained in SnO2 being a main component as an auxiliary component. Herein, SO4<2-> is regarded as SO4 and the content of SO4<2-> is shown as a wt%. By adjusting the content of SO4<2-> to the main component SnO2 to 0.01wt% or more, sensitivity enhancing effect on gas to be detected is obtained. The upper limit of the quantity of the auxiliary component to be contained in the main component SnO2 of a gas detection element is set to a range wherein the difference between the resistance value RA in air and the resistance value RG in an isobutane atmosphere appears clearly, that is, 5wt%.
