PURPOSE:To enable a high-speed processing for distance measurement, by imparting a marker, using a laser beam, to a monitoring object to facilitate the handling of an image in a double image inputting means. CONSTITUTION:A spot-like marker 2 is imparted to at a proper location in a monitoring area by a laser beam outputted from a laser beam generating means 1 with an optical system to reduce a laser beam flux. As the marker 2 is higher enough in the brightness than the perimeter of the marker 2 imparted by the laser beam, the brightness can be binary-coded by setting a proper threshold for the brightness. Thus, the marker 2 alone can be extracted from the background.
