PURPOSE:To enhance the uniformity of a deflecting magnetic field, by shaping a saddle-shaped coil for a deflection yoke in such a manner that wires are wound in a trued-up state as a thin plate and a funnel-shaped portion and coupled portions are bent by 90 deg. inward and outward inversely to each other at conjoined portions. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of enameled copper wires or the like are wound in a trued-up state in such a form that a front-end coupled portion 1, a rear-end coupled portion 2 and the funnel-shaped portion 3 of a right or a left deflecting magnetic field generation sections are linked to each other at four conjoined portions 4 as a thin plate. After that, the funnel-shaped portion 3 is turned by about 90 deg., the coupled portions 1, 2 are turned by about 90 deg. in the opposite direction thereto and the conjoined portions 4 are twisted by about 180 deg. so that a saddle-shaped coil for a deflection yoke is manufactured. Two such coils are combined with each other to constitute the yoke. For these reasons, the enameled copper wires or the like are not disturbed out of the trued-up state but kept in a prescribed wound state to improve the symmetry and uniformity of a deflecting magnetic field to reduce the distortion of an image.
