PURPOSE:To indicate a continuous change of a liquid level by simple constitution by using a long-sized negative characteristic thermistor as a detecting element. CONSTITUTION:The long-sized detecting element 6 consisting of the plate-shaped negative characteristic thermistor is fitted so that the dipped length is changed in accordance with a change of the liquid level. Further, the element 6 is fixed so that the direction of a line connecting respective electrodes 7 such as silver provided to both end parts of the negative characteristic thermistor is made perpendicular to the liquid level. Then, when the whole element 6 is in the air, the heat dissipation coefficient is reduced and the element 6 generates heat for itself and attains thermal equilibrium with high temperature. On the other hand, the resistance of the element 6 is made high when the whole element 6 is in gasoline. Then, an electric current value of the element 6 is changed in a straight line as the element 6 is dipped from its end part and the liquid level change is continuously indicated according to the electric current change.
