摘要 PURPOSE:To allow control of charging/discharging an electric current by enlarging an ion generation region through increasing an edge area for a discharging electrode with the formation of many out recessed parts on the discharging electrode facing an ion stream channel and also decreasing an overlapped area for a pair of discharging electrodes opposed to each other through an insulator layer. CONSTITUTION:A lower discharging electrode 14 is formed in an almost rectangular shape with an insulation layer 15 provided covering the former. An upper discharging electrode 16, printed through silk screen printing using gold paste on the insulation layer 15 is formed to a prescribed shape by photoetching technique. Each cut recessed part 221 is composed of a recording density, for instance, 20 pieces/mm of 16 or more dots/mm, and the width of each recessed part 21 and a projecting part 22 is almost equal. If a high frequency high voltage 17 is applied between the discharging electrodes, a high frequency field is formed to the limits of an overlapped area of each discharging electrode. At the same time, the air undergoes dielectric breakdown near the edge 16a of the discharging electrode on the side facing an ion stream channel 13. This results in the gradual trapping and subsequent multiplication of an ion group. After this process, it will be carried to a recording element side together with a compressed air to be introduced into the ion stream channel 13. The substantial overlapped area of the discharging electrode is reduced by many cut recessed parts, thus minimizing the static capacity and decreasing the charging/discharging current of the insulation layer 15.
