PURPOSE:To make it possible to finely and readily position an electrode guided by means of an electrode guide at a position near the top face of a workpiece by providing a guide device for a small diameter rod type electrode with a slant adjusting mechanism and a guide aperture adjusting mechanism. CONSTITUTION:The lower end 22a of the supporting bar 22 extended from the spindle head of an electric discharge machine is provided with a slant adjusting mechanism 24, electrode guide mounting plate 26, guide aperture adjusting mechanism 28, and so on. The slant adjusting mechanism 24 can be rotated around the supporting bar 22 when required. The mechanism24 holds ball 34 between plate members 30 and 32 to slat the plate member 32 in relation to the plate member 30 by varying the fastening of bolt 38. An electrode guide 52 is clamped to the electrode guide mounting plate 26 at a mounting seat 60. An electrode presser plate 64 is provided at the position opposing to the opening of the V groove guide face 62 of the guide 52 forming a guide face with the flat presser face 64a and a guide face 62. A projecting section 72 plays a role of an oscillating fulcrum and can be finely adjusted.
