PURPOSE:To substantially reduce the initial producing manhour of a map database by inputting image data and generating vector data with the aid of image processing software. CONSTITUTION:Map information for general purpose such as a topographical map and a road map is inputted by an image information input device 1, and its necessary part is converted into vector data by an image processing computer 4 having the image processing software, and registered on a unified database file 6 as vector data added with image data. Mobile map information such as telephone, water supply and a drainage, and gas tube laying situation is inputted through a graphic terminal equipment 2, while code data is inputted through a data terminal equipment 3, and automatically given the relationship with the map information for general purpose (vector data), by the unified database processing software image data is registered on the unified database file 6.
