PURPOSE:To simplify an editing operation by checking whether a single sentence of the corresponding 2nd language is translated or not and displays it after the success of analysis of the entire single sentence of the 1st language. CONSTITUTION:When an English sentence is supplied through an input part 1, a translation part 5 analyzes the input English sentence by means of a translation dictionary 6 to translate it into an equivalent Japanese sentence. Here the part 5 sends the information showing whether the English sentence is translated or not as a Japanese sentence to an editing control part 4. Thus the part 4 deletes (omits) the mark part (incl.., !, ?, etc.) at the end of the translation according to the information given from the part 5 and in case the English sentence is not translated as a Japanese sentence. Then a display part 8 displays both the original and the translation according to the indication of the part 4. While the period marks are omitted at the end of each translated sentence 74, 75 and 77 respectively since these sentences are obtained from each partial translation after the failure of analysis of the entire single original sentence. Thus a partially translated sentence can be immediately discriminated.
