PURPOSE:To enable setting of the origin position of an NC coordinate, by determining a coordinate value right before a slider is brought into contact with a stopper, a coordinate value available when the slider is brought into contact with the stopper, and an offset value therebetween. CONSTITUTION:A pulse generator 4 and a potentiometer 11 are added as the position detector of a slider 3. In which case, the slider 3 is forced into contact with a stopper 9 being a given reference surface to determine the first coordinate value of the coordinate of a potentiometer 11 responding to a Z-phase pulse right after the slider 3 is brought into contact with the stopper 9. The second coordinate of a potentiometer coordinate available when the slider 3 is brought into contact with the stopper 9 is determined. An offset amount between the first and the second coordinate value is determined from a pulse generator coordinate, and based on the first and the second coordinate value and the offset amount, the origin position of an NC coordinate is computed for setting.
