PURPOSE:To make it possible to easily apply a wire electric discharge machining device to an existing apparatus even if a wire supply reel having a large weight is used, by controlling the reverse torque of a wire supply reel wound thereon with a wire electrode in accordance with the kind of the wire supply reel. CONSTITUTION:A selecting circuit 42 receives a wire supply operation mode signal from a setting circuit 39 and a signal indicating the kind of a wire electrode 3 from a change-over circuit 41, and selects a reverse torque for a wire supply reel 33 which is delivered as a reference value to a compensating circuit 43. Meanwhile a signal indicating the remaining amount of the wire electrode 3 is also delivered to the compensating circuit 43. At this time the compensating circuit 43 computes the compensation of the reference value in accordance with the remaining amount indicating signal and delivers a signal with which the control of the reverse torque of the wire supply reel 33 may be made in accordance with the remaining amount of the wire electrode 3.
