PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic head supporting device improving contact efficiency between a magnetic disk surface and a magnetic head by arranging an oscillation attenuating material between a fixed holding material opposed to a gimbal surface and symmetrical about a gimbal moving part and the gibmal moving surface. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic head is fixed on the gimbal 3 having a rocking shaft in one direction. An arm part 4 extended slightly up to the inside from an oscillation shaft 2 and making its center axis almost coincide with the oscillation shaft 2 is formed and the oscillation attenuating material 6 is fitted to a holding plate 5 having a shape almost equal to the gimbal shape on the outside of the oscillation shaft 2 at the surface opposed to the gimbal surface. The arm part 4 of the holding plate 5 is positioned so that the center axis of the arm part 4 almost coincides with the oscillation shaft 2 of the gimbal 3 and the arm part 4 is positioned almost symmetrically about the center of the oscillation shaft 2 to fit the holding plate 5 to the gimbal 3. These members are set up on a prescribed position of the carriage 7, temporarily fixed by an instantaneous bonding agent or the like and then the gimbal 3 is fixed on a carriage 7 and the holding plate 5 fixed on the gimbal 3 or the carriage 7 by a bonding agent 8.
