<p>PURPOSE:To improve a distribution of intake air, by providing adjacent to cylinder heads of a multi-cylinder engine distribution boxes for intake air extending along the direction toward which cylinders are arranged, supplying intake air to respective cylinders from one end of the distribution box and keeping the other end of it at the state similar to the state opened to the atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:Distribution boxes 6 for intake air extending along the direction along which cylinders are arranged are provided adjacent to respective cylinder heads in correspondence with respective banks of a vee-engine. Each distribution box has a long pipe 8a and a short pipe 8c communicating with 2 suction valves provided with each cylinder for utilizing suction inertia. Intake air passing through a throttle valve 13 enters into the distribution box 6 at its one end through a branch pipe 14 to be distributed to respective cylinders. The distribution box 6 has its other end connected to an enlarged chamber 9b through a choke portion 9a so that respective distribution boxes communicate each other. Since the enlarged chamber 9b keeps a state similar to the state opened to the atmosphere, a change of negative pressure in the distribution boxes 6 is stabilized and intake air is distributed uniformly.</p> |
