SILVER HALIDE PHOTOGRAPHIC SENSITIVE MATERIAL

PURPOSE:To improve the shelf stability and quality of an image and the physical characteristics of a film by incorporating a specified magenta coupler into an emulsion layer and specifying the ratio between the total weight of oil drops in the emulsion layer and the weight of hydrophilic colloid and the jelly strength of gelatin in a nonphotosensitive layer positioned farthest from a support on the emulsion layer side. CONSTITUTION:A magenta coupler represented by the formula is incorporated into at least one silver halide emulsion layer. The ratio between the total weight of oil drops in the emulsion layer and the weight of hydrophilic colloid is regulated to <=0.8, preferably 0.2-0.8 and the jelly strength of gelatin in a nonphotosensitive layer positioned farthest from a support on the emulsion layer side is regulated to >=250. In the formula, Z is a group of nonmetallic atoms required to form a heterocyclic ring contg. N, X is H or a substituent eliminable by a reaction with the oxidized product of a color developing agent and R is H or a substituent. The resulting sensitive material hardly causes a yellow stain during storage in a dark place and the blurring and luster of a magenta dye image are improved.
