PURPOSE:To obtain a leathery sheet having improved flexibility and superior drapeability, etc., by applying two or more kinds of specific high polymers in combination to a fiber sheet and treating the resultant sheet with a high-speed fluid. CONSTITUTION:A web consisting of fibers capable of forming ultrafine fibers of <=0.3 d, preferably nylon based or polyester based fibers, etc., e.g. island-in-sea type conjugate fibers, is needle punched to give a nonwoven fabric and two or more kinds of high polymers, e.g. selected from elastomers, e.g. polyurethanes, etc., and resins, e.g. epoxy resin, etc., and particularly one thereof being polyurethane in combination with another high polymer, are applied to the nonwoven fabric. The resultant nonwoven fabric is then subjected to treatment with a high-speed fluid (under 10-300kg/cm<2> jetting pressure) jetted from an orifice to afford the aimed leathery sheet having superior tenacity, brushing abrasion resistance and aging resistance (depending on the selected combination of the above-mentioned high polymers), etc., in addition to good flexibility. |
