PURPOSE:To obtain a composite metallic material which has no internal defects such as pores and has uniform quality without the need for preheating a mold to a high temp. by loading a preform consisting of a reinforcing material onto the molten metal loaded into the mold and nonhermetically pressurizing the same from above. CONSTITUTION:The molten metal 1 is loaded into the mold Z such as casting mold. The mold Z is preheated to prevent the molten metal 1 from solidifying. The preform 2 consisting of the reinforcing material is loaded into the mold Z from above the molten metal 1 and the preform 2 is pressurized by a ram 3. The preform 2 is preheated as well to prevent the solidification of the metal 1. The preform 2 is not hermetically closed during the pressurization. For example, the ram 3 is constituted by forming single or plural holes 30 therein and removing gas therefrom for the above-mentioned purpose. The molten metal 1 is impregnated into the preform 2 by the above-mentioned pressurization. The pressurization is maintained until the molten metal cools to solidify. The gas in the preform 2 is removed from the holes 30 and therefore, the pores hardly remain in the solidified complex and the material having the uniform quality is obtd.
