PURPOSE:To obtain a wire rod having a stable martensite structure by hot rolling a steel contg. a specified amount of C, forcing the resulting wire rod to be cooled so as to form supercooled austenite and further cooling the wire rod with blast air and water under prescribed conditions in two stages. CONSTITUTION:A steel contg. <=0.4% C is hot rolled and the resulting wire rod is immediately forced to be cooled to 500-700 deg.C so as to form of a continuous ring, cooled to the martensitic transformation temp. at the critical cooling rate or above with blast air and then water-cooled by showering. |
