PURPOSE:To obtain a poreless composite metallic material without the need for heating a mold to a high temp. by preheating a preform consisting of a reinforcing material and container having air permeability for contg. said preform, putting the preform and container into the mold, pouring a molten metal into the container and pressurizing the same. CONSTITUTION:The preform 3 consisting of the reinforcing material is housed into the container 2. The container 2 which has air permeability, for example, the container bored with plural pieces of vent holes 20 in the lower part of a stainless steel can in which the preform 3 is housed in a manner as to prevent the clogging of the holes by the molten metal is used. The preform 3 and the container 2 are then heated and both thereof together with the container are loaded into the mold 4 such as casting mold. Order of heating and housing the vessel 2 and the preform 3 may be optional. The mold 4 is heated as well but there is no need for heating the same to the temp. as high as the temp. of the container 2. The melt 5 of a base metal is poured into the container 2 and is pressurized from above by a ram R to impregnate the molten metal 5 into the preform 3. The air in the preform 3 is removed from the space between the container 2 and the mold 4 through the holes 20. The molten metal 5 flows out of the holes 20 as well but is solidified and sealed by the contact surfaces of the container 4 and the mold 4.
