PURPOSE:To make it possible to stably process tickets, by allowing the leading end of each fed ticket to enter the titled apparatus in a flat state before curving. CONSTITUTION:A bank bill A fed while held between feed belts 1a, 1b holds a flat surface and the leading end thereof reaches a roller 4 and subsequently sent in between a reference roller 2 and the roller 4. The center O' of the roller 4 is arranged at a predetermined angle to the vertical line (h) passing the center O of the reference roller 2, that is, arranged on the line L connecting the contact point (p) where the belts 1a, 1b begin to contact with the roller 2 and the center O. Further, the bill A is contacted with the roller 2 under pressure by the elastic force of a spring body 3 supporting the roller 4 in a freely rotatable manner. Therefore, the bill A smoothly enters toward the point (p) without expanding the leading end thereof and can pass between the rollers 2, 4 without generating jamming. The thickness sensor 5 provided above the spring body 3 with a predetermined can stably measured the thickness of the bill A passing through the roller 4.
