PURPOSE:To considerably improve accuracy in the attainment of the desired value of a component in molten steel after treatment by deciding the proper amount of a ferroalloy to be charged during the regulation of the component in a vacuum refining furnace in consideration of operation factors of the fur nace. CONSTITUTION:When a component in molten steel is regulated in a vacuum refining furnace, the yield of each brand of ferroalloy is previously quantified as a function of operation factors as shown by formula I. The amount of a ferroalloy to be charged during the regulation of the component is calculated by the quantified yield calculating formula so that the component is regulated to the desired value after the ferroalloy is charged and the component is regulat ed by charging the calculated amount of the ferroalloy.
