发明名称 METHOD FOR MEASURING THICKNESS OF COOLING WATER FILM OF BELT CASTER
摘要 PURPOSE:To make is possible to measure the thickness of the water film of a cooling water stream with high accuracy even before casting is started, by providing a ultrasonic probe having a delaying material mounted thereto to a pad controlling the feed-in/feed-out of the cooling water stream behind the long side molded steel plate of a belt caster. CONSTITUTION:An ultrasonic probe 6 consists of an ultrasonic vibrator 7 and a delay material 8 etc. and is fixed to a pad 1. The vibrator 7 receives the pulse of an electric pulse transmitter 11 to transmit an ultrasonic pulse 12. The pulse 12 is reflected from the surface contacted with a cooling water stream 5 of the delay material 8 and the surface of the water stream 5 of a molded steel plate 2 to respectively generate reflected pulses SB, S1 which are, in turn, returned to the vibrator 7 and converted to electric signals to be received and amplified by an amplifier 14. This amplified signals are outputted to gate circuits 16a, 16b to respectively take out echos SB, S1 and outputs the same to a time measuring device 17. The time difference between the echos SB, S1 is measured by the measuring device 17 to be outputted to an operational processor. On the basis of this time difference, the distance (d) between the surface of the delay material 8 and that of the steel plate 2 is calculated and the thickness DELTAd of the water film 5 of the water stream 5 can be calculated from the preliminarily inputted distance (d') between the surface of the delay material 8 and that of the pad 1.
