PURPOSE:To enable automation by dividing feeding materials into groups to which distinguishing indications are attached respectively, and collating said distinguishing indications with feeding material information to judge the propriety of assembling, at the start of the tracking of feeding materials to a rolling line, etc. CONSTITUTION:Feeding materials 10 are housed in a rack 26 by groups being indicated by the distinguishing marks of feeding materials. And, information on these feeding materials 10 is stored in an off-line yard controlling computer 18 as a material feeding information Mi. When the materials 10 are fed to a line 12, as the number of the housed place of the feeding material 10 is inputted from a terminal device 22, the material feeding information Mi is transferred from the computer 18 to a computer 20 for shop automatic operation. Thereby, a lifting magnet 14 feeds the feeding materials 10 onto the line 12 and an automatic distinguishing mark reader 16 reads the distinguishing mark, which is collated with the material feeding information Mi by the computer 20 to judge the propriety and, if it is proper, tracking is started. This structure enables automation.
