PURPOSE:To obtain a metallic member which can be exactly joined to ceramics without the formation of flash even with fine patterns by coating the joint surface of the metallic member to be joined to the ceramics with a composite plating layer co-deposited with the power of an active meal or the compd. thereof. CONSTITUTION:The joint surface of the metallic member to be joined to the ceramics is subjected to composite plating of Ni, Co, Cu, etc., or the alloy thereof co-deposited with the powder of the metal such as Ti, Zr, or V or the alloy contg. said metals or compd. such as hydride of said metals. The part formed with the plating layer is tightly adhered to the ceramics and the plating layer is heated to melt and alloy, then the melt thereof fuses to the ceramics. Such composite plating layer is regarded to be a kind of brazing filler metal. Since said layer is integrally bound with the metallic member, the plating layer is processed together in conformity with the pattern even if the member is processed to the fine pattern. The brazing filler metal is thus exactly clad or coated on the joint surface of the fine pattern.
